NURSING

The nursing program at IOWD has its foundation in Florence Nightingale’s work to reform public health and deliver evidence-based care, particularly for under-served populations. Our experienced nurses collaborate with nurses, midwives, students and the interdisciplinary team, to develop and implement standardized protocols that impact women and children undergoing specialized surgery. We have nurses traveling from the United States, Canada, the UK, and the United Arab Emirates. Their commitment to IOWD, and to our patients, is unparalleled; most of our nurses return every year. As IOWD’s surgical programs expand to cater to the growing demand for sub-specialty surgical services, the need for expert nurses is greater than ever. Our team and our patients welcome you.

I first heard about IOWD from one of the surgeons, who practices at the hospital where I work. I signed up immediately because I was interested in being a part of something greater than myself. The work is challenging; the days are long and it is difficult to turn away some patients who are not candidates for surgery. But, I remember our gift as health care providers is to care for our fellow human beings wherever they live. I am honored to be a part of the IOWD family and look forward to many more missions.

I am not very good at putting my feelings into words, but IOWD has made a huge impact on my life. I feel blessed to be a small part of the good work that is done.
